Step-by-step
- Hold TRX on TRON, not ERC-20 “TRX”. Receive → TRON. The address starts with T. Ethereum TRX tokens are a different asset.
- Open Send and read the fee tier. A USDT transfer needs energy. If you have none staked, TRON burns TRX instead. Insufficient TRX triggers Insufficient funds including the network fee.
- Send a test TRC-20 amount. Confirm the T… destination and that the recipient asked for TRC-20. Then size up. Do not use Exchange to hop TRON↔EVM.
Energy vs bandwidth
Bandwidth is roughly “bytes of transaction”. Energy is smart-contract execution (TRC-20). Staking TRX can cover both; we do not run a staking UI. The Send preview is the number to trust, not a rental marketplace screenshot.
| Action | Typically consumes |
|---|---|
| Send TRX | Bandwidth (or TRX if none) |
| Send TRC-20 USDT | Energy + bandwidth |
| First interaction with a contract | More energy than a follow-up |
Energy-rental dApps asked from DMs are a common drain. If you stake, do it in software you navigated to yourself — not because this blog embedded a connect button (it does not).
What TRON fees are not
They are not Ethereum gwei. They are not an Exchange bridge quote. exchange.bridgeSoon still covers Bitcoin, Litecoin and TRON bridges. For USDT network choice see TRC-20 vs ERC-20.
Receive TRON → T… from m/44'/195'/0'/0/0
Send fee → live energy/bandwidth estimate
Exchange → no TRON swap/bridge in v0.2.1
Keep a TRX buffer if you regularly send USDT. A zero-TRX account can receive USDT and still fail to send it out.
FAQ
Does GaurdWallet stake TRX for me? No. We estimate fees; we do not freeze TRX or sell energy. Third-party rental is outside the wallet.
Why was the fee higher than the widget? The widget is arithmetic from numbers you typed. Send uses live chain prices. Congestion and contract energy change.
Can I pay TRON fees in USDT? Not as a native fee asset. Burn is TRX when resources are missing.
